On The Major Arcana card –
’Number Ø, The Fool’
The Fool
represents a brand new experience – a beginning; being new to something – like
the first time you’ve ever done something; not judging because there is nothing
to judge the experience against; seeing something with new eyes; this new thing
seems to come out of nowhere, without warning it just appears – all the sudden,
this is going on now.
This brand new experience springs out of an unknown
realm. Like spring, something new has
been born. Where does “it” (the experience & spring itself) come
from?
Spring is born out of death, or so it appears. So we
might say that this new thing is transformed by something that has died – a
rebirth, which is a completely new phenomenon.
This new thing is transformed from another thing
that has died in your life. It appears to be brand new, and it is, but it is
also another, a new, VERSION of something previously experienced. It has been reborn so that you may
experience a different (new to you) side of itself; another facet (like a
jewel) that you were previously unaware of. All of the sides of this “jewel”
are completely unique, and yet it all comes out of the same “object” or event.
This is also representative
of that feeling you have when something completely new is happening in your
life. This feeling disappears once you become used to the situation, which then
feels as if the initial magic has gone out of the experience. Then everything
becomes familiar, boring, predictable.
The feeling only makes an appearance for a certain amount of time and
then goes back to where it came from – the world of nothing – no – thing. Once it loses its innocence it cannot exist
in that form for you any longer, it must change.
“A frail forgotten pedal, disconnected from her rose,
she hides inside a memory, I don’t know where she goes”
LeNor Barry, from “Festival of Change”
